ARC Advisory Group's report from BlueCielo Kronodoc: Designed for Scale24.11.2010 Document management for very large distributed capital projects is always a challenge, requiring solutions built for scale. BlueCielo recently briefed ARC about the company’s acquired Kronodoc product, which has roots in document management for the CERN project and may be suitable for your large-scale document control projects. Furthermore, the company’s SaaS deployment should make it easy for you to give it a try. ARC Advisosy Group's conclusions BlueCielo Kronodoc was conceived in a big project environment involving a very large number of suppliers in which document control, done right, requires a large effort. Even then, it is difficult to manage quality and avoid delays resulting from loosely managed review and approval processes. Even information sharing for collaboration in such environments is troublesome. Undoubtedly, Kronodoc could offer value in much smaller endeavors, but its real value is for situations with large number of suppliers (document contributors) and heavy document sharing (collaboration). The Kronodoc architecture makes it a natural SaaS solution. This appears especially attractive as a quick fix or temporary solution for some customer situations.
